Gold-standard, evidence-based skills training programs funded by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs

Funded mental health literacy and suicide prevention skills training programs are available to all members of the veteran community through MENTAL HEALTH PROTECT ™, including:

  • Ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel
  • Families, friends, carers, employers, and colleagues of current and ex-serving ADF personnel
  • Health care professionals and community members supporting veterans and their families

 

Together, we can create a broader Network of Safety for the over half a million Australians who have served in the ADF.

Learn the skills of how to identify someone with thoughts of suicide, ask them about their thoughts, and refer them to a caregiver who can complete a safety plan.

  • Safe for ages 18+ 


Learn the skills of how to identify someone with thoughts of suicide, ask them directly, and refer them to ongoing help, as well as unpacking key community myths around suicide.  If run in an institution, safeTALK also provides an avenue to discuss internal processes and procedures.

 LivingWorks Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the oldest and most evidence-based suicide intervention skills training in the world.  Learn to complete a suicide first-aid intervention, including a personalised safety plan.
