A platform for empowerment and connection: Welcome to our new website

LivingWorks’ new website is now live!

If you are new to our site, welcome! And if you’ve been here before, welcome back!

Our goal is to make communities around the world safer from suicide. Now, with a website that prioritizes the connection between you and our resources, we can achieve this goal together.

Why now?

LivingWorks CEO, Lance Armstrong, says that although the idea for a new website has been in the plans for a while, LivingWorks’ growing philosophy of engaging with the people who take our training prompted the decision.

“We need to have a basic understanding of [who is taking our training] so that we can engage with them and empower them so that they can have an impact on their community,” says Armstrong. “A big part of being able to engage and empower them is the website itself. So they have places to get resources and understand who we are.”

Armstrong says the new website is a place where people can come and understand not just what LivingWorks offers, but find out who we are, too.

“I think it’s a radical step forward and I’m excited about not just the initial stage, but where it will take us.”

As LivingWorks moves forward as an organization with the goal of maintaining deeper relationships with the individuals or organizations taking the training, as well as the trainers themselves, Armstrong sees the website as a platform that can help facilitate this goal.

“The website is one of those platforms that allows us to do more,” says Armstrong. “Resources, support, video, content all that kind of stuff that enhances a person’s ability to understand and engage with LivingWorks but also take what LivingWorks does and our mission out into their communities.”

Armstrong says if there’s one thing that visitors of the website would take away, it’s to understand our mission and see the importance of suicide prevention and be motivated to play a role – whether it be in their own community or beyond.

“If they could get that out of a visit to the website… that would be spectacular.”

The creation process

To build our new website, LivingWorks worked with RGE Solutions, a company who provides business development, technical marketing and digital optimization expertise for clients who are looking to grow and evolve.

Mikenna Tansley, RGE Solutions’ Creative Director, says this has been one of their most successful projects to date.

“It’s been incredible… I think it is a complete transformation of the website,” says Tansley.

Tansley says one of the most important steps in building a website is having a defined idea of what you’re looking for.

“Know what parts of your brand you’re happy with and know what your ultimate goal is… At the end of the day, it’s your brand. It’s representing what you want.”

For LivingWorks, making our user experience simple and our information and resources accessible to everyone was the primary goal. This meant implementing consistency across all versions of our website and designing a site that was easy to navigate.

“[Before you had] different sites in different regions that look very different and have different information and there [was] no consistent feel across all the websites. Whereas now that is something that we have,” says Tansley.

We would like to thank RGE Solutions for their hard work and dedication, and for helping us create a website that makes our vision a reality.

What has changed?

We offer training for everyone, whether you’re an individual or a community, and we have an option for you to learn suicide intervention skills that can make a difference. Our user interface has changed to better accommodate users to help facilitate their training journey smoothly.

We have changed terminology and language to update what is currently being used in the community to help make everyone feel safe and connected. The language and communication that relates to suicidology is always changing and evolving as the community grows, and it is our goal to grow together.

A toggle has been added so that users from around the globe can access the proper website that they need – with specific website options to choose from in North America, Australia and the UK. You can head to the top-right of your screen to check if you are on the right page.

Becoming a trainer has never been easier. We have added two separate pages that will help facilitate soon-to-be ASIST or safeTALK trainers. Each page has information that will help guide you on your journey to training others to make their communities safer from suicide.

All existing bookmarks and logins will be unaffected by the new website, and everyone will continue to be able to access the information they know and need.

We will continue to build and upgrade our website as time goes on so that everyone can be connected to the resources they are looking for.

Thank you for visiting our website! We hope you enjoy our new features and the platform we have designed to help make communities around the world safer from suicide.
